Introduction: London, England 1946 “A little faster this morning, Mr. Higgins!” Miss Trinket yelled from her study, her eyes focused on her work. The plump butler rushed in with a tiny china teacup set on a silver tray. “Your tea,” Mr. Higgins said as he walked towards her. Miss. Trinket snatched the small cup, chugged down the vanilla black liquid, and set it down on her working table. Mr. Higgins jerked back at the sharp movement. “Almost finished I presume,” he sighed. “You bet!” Miss. Trinket exclaimed and held up a small book and looked up at it in approval. “The First book that reads itself to you! I recorded myself reading it and put the recording machine inside the cover and when you open to the front page it starts speaking!I am gonna call it...a...self reading book, maybe? No…...Mmmm,” Miss Trinket rambled. “Well you have plenty of time to think after your lesson. The students will be here soon!”Mr. Higgins muttered rather loudly. Miss Trinket looked at the grandfather clock strangely. “But it’s only…goodness it’s almost 3 o’clock!” She scrambled out of the room like a chicken with it’s head cut off. “My notes!! Where are they?!” her eye twitching as she searched through her dresser. “Are you looking for these?” A small maid peeped quietly from the doorway. “Oh, thank the good lord you found them. Today’s lesson is extra important.” Miss Trinket reached out her gloved hand and motioned to give them to her. The small girl shuffled closer. “I did not catch your name, what was it again?” Miss Trinket asked politely as the girl dropped the stack of papers in her hand. “It’s Mary Rose, I am the new maid fill in. My mum is the housekeeper,” she responded shyly. “I-I was wondering...What are black holes exactly? Mum says you’re very smart.” “Black holes are holes in space that are basically dead stars.” Miss Trinket replied a-matter-a-factly, unswayed by the praise. “If you would like you could join us and the other students in today’s lesson, if you are interested!” Mary Rose’s face lit up like a light bulb. “I would love to!”
